Welcome!
The Safe and Mobile Seniors Web site provides information to Florida seniors on every aspect of transportation, in an effort to improve the safety and mobility of our mature citizens. This Web site is a reference of available programs and
resources for mature drivers, senior resource centers, area agencies on aging, Community Traffic Safety Coordinators, safety councils, emergency road service agencies, and any others interested in mobility and safety issues for mature drivers... a "one
stop shop" for the information you need, and a location where agencies and organizations can provide updates on transportation related programs and activities aimed at seniors.
With over 3.9 million persons age 60 and older, Florida ranks number one in the percentage of its citizens who are seniors (23 percent in 2004).
The impact on transportation now and in the future will be considerable. As the state agency charged with providing a safe and efficient transportation system, the
Florida Department of Transportation's Safe Mobility for Life Program, with assistance from our
program partners, is taking the lead in consolidating information to help improve safety on our roadways for seniors.
